The Burning Crusade will be the next major expansion to launch in the WoW Classic, with the development team promising to include all the best content and experience from when it first launched back in 2007.

The WoW Classic Burning Crusade isn’t scheduled to launch until June 1, but as many gamers will already know, each major World of Warcraft experience first needs a pre-patch.

When May 18 hits, the “pre-expansion patch” will go live in Classic. At this point you’ll have two choices: you can bring them forward into the new expansion or stay in the old hotness (which will confusingly be brought forward into new “old” servers). Or, you can “clone them” for a fee.

And in fact, with the pre-patch, the update for the mountain pass of the Deadwinds comes to the live server. Before Karazhan we meet the three NPCs from the “The Violet Eye” faction, we are allowed to smear at the instance entrance through the bars and mess with level 68 to level 70 opponents in the area in front of the instance. And it is precisely these opponents who already have their TBC bag lists, including Netherstoff.

What’s New in Pre-Patch
While players cannot enter the Dark Portal, there will be some new content that will be added to the game.

Throughout the lifespan of classic, Shamans were limited to the Horde, and Paladins were locked to the Alliance.

This will be changed come TBC and eligible races on the Alliance will be able to create Shamans, and with the introduction of the Blood elf race on the Horde side, they will be able to now create the Paladin class.

With the release of the pre-expansion patch, players will make a choice between continuing to play on WoW Classic or progressing into Burning Crusade Classic.

They can also choose to use the Character Clone service, which will give gamers the choice to continue playing their existing characters on the realm type you prefer: Burning Crusade Classic Progression realm or Classic Era realm.

Blizzard is now ready to fully explain how it’s all going to work, through this detailed blog post here. This is the gist of how cloning happens: “Upon installing and logging into the other game, in this case, World of Warcraft Classic, you’ll see [your character] listed and is greyed out. The text under her name now reads as, ‘Clone Available.’  A Clone icon will appear next to Thuata’s name as shown below. A tip will appear on mouse-over of the Clone icon. If you click the Clone icon, a confirmation window with more information will appear. It shows the ‘cloned’ date of the character which includes all progress on the character up to that date.” Then you pay the fee, and you’re good to go.
